Our history starts in 1956 when entrepreneur Glen Rydin founded Rydin Sign and Decal producing street signs and decals focusing on product quality and personalized service.
As demand for permitting and identification solutions grew, Rydin shifted from signs to permits, a key move that spurred rapid North American growth
In 1985, Rydin built a larger manufacturing facility in Woodale, Illinois. This allowed the company to expand its product range, invest in cutting-edge technology, and develop a highly trained production, sales, and support team.
Rydin focused on key industry segments offering specialized parking permit hang tags and decals for high schools, colleges and universities, property management organizations, municipal governments, and healthcare facilities, to name a few.
In the late 1990s, Rydin launched its first website, offering customers information about our products and an online ordering solution, reaching a wider customer base.
In the early 2000s, Rydin.com evolved showcasing our ability to serve a multitude of industries. Rydin’s offerings included hang tags and permits now with the capacity to integrate nearly limitless sequential numbering and variable data, security features such as holograms, and reflective materials, and other custom touches. Rydin’s customers could now choose from decals, validator and ID stickers, warning decals, and a variety of other specialty products.
Rydin’s product line again expanded with a focus on supplying municipal and governmental customers with disability parking permits and placards. Rydin’s secure and tamper-proof handicapped parking permit solution allows our customers to serve the end user with the accessible parking options they need.
In 2007, Rydin built a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Streamwood, Illinois, ensuring a long-lasting infrastructure. Along with the new facility, Rydin.com received a major upgrade, introducing an enhanced online ordering system with a member area and user accounts.
In 2011, Rydin introduced PermitExpress® (RPE), an all-in-one Software as a Service (SAAS) solution that revolutionized college and university parking permit management. RPE, combined with Rydin’s Permit Distribution Services, allows for the seamless management of the entire parking permit process—from sales to permit distribution and parking citation management all-n-one platform.
In an effort to provide customers with the most secure and anti-tampering permits possible, our proprietary Rydin Secure-and-Valid Hologram was introduced. Additionally, in 2016, Rydin.com was again updated to offer a more streamlined customer experience as well as a new Design Tool. Customers could now design and order custom permits right from Rydin.com.
Additionally, innovations such as our Metallic Blast™ product were introduced. Metallic Blast™ is a Rydin exclusive print treatment that makes your design stand out with a metallic decorative appearance
Most recently, Rydin’s On-Demand Print and Fulfillment Service, allows customers to purchase, store, and distribute parking permits on an as-needed basis. Eliminating expensive storage, Rydin’s secure solution ships permits directly to the end user. This saves our customers time, money, and unnecessary overhead.
Today, Rydin stands as a leader in custom pressure-sensitive decals, parking control products, infinitely variable data printing, a wide range of identification and access solutions, and our parking management and permit distribution capabilities.
